I can’t see….

I have been having a lot of problems with my eyes lately.  I have worn glasses since I was 10 – I am quite near sighted.  With the passing of the years, distance is now defined as anything more than 8 inches from my nose!  Lately however, closer is NOT better.  If I am wearing my corrective lenses I can’t bring my eyes to focus on anything closer than 12 inches.  This would be age related – and reading glasses time.  If that is not enough, I am reacting to the eye drops I am using for my dry eye issues.

This morning I can’t seem to focus on anything.  My eyes are blurry and sore from the eye drops, and I can’t read with my glasses! So I decided to journal “au natural” no glasses – and I can’t see or read a word I am writing!

But that doesn’t mean my words aren’t being accurately recorded.  The letters and words are flowing from my hand.  There is great cooperation and co-ordination between my fingers and my brain.  My eyes may not see what is happening but the words are legible and present.

God is writing the book of my life.  It flows from His pen with clarity – and brilliance.  The words and the plan originate from Him, and the expression of it is being written as He intended.

Sometimes I can’t see the path God has for me.  My natural eyes are weak, and my lenses are inadequate.  The same is true of my spiritual eyes.  I can’t see clearly, I don’t have clarity, and sometimes I can’t focus at all. But that does not mean there is not a path, or a purpose or a plan ahead of me.

I need God to bring healing to my eyes.  I am asking Him to give me new lenses so I can see what He wants me to see and focus the path He has prepared for me. I need to trust the Hand that is penning the pages of my life.

Jeremiah 29:13 NLT says, “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me”.   And then, verse 14 emphatically states, “I will be found by you.”

The Message translation says it this way “When you come looking for me, you will find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.

Father,

This is my prayer today.

Heal my eyes.  Give me eyes to see –

Give me spiritual eyes.  Let me see the truths in your Word.

Let me have clear vision and focus in the things you want me to see.

Let me find you – I am seeking you with my whole heart.

Here I go

Life is a journey as the saying goes.

Along the way we make many choices and decisions. With every moment of joy and every moment of laughter we respond to our journey.  Every obstacle, every setback, every crisis, every transition is an opportunity to respond.

How do I respond to opportunity in my life? Do I face my fear? Do I step out of my comfort zone? Do I stretch beyond the world I know?

For me in this moment, it begins with a sliver of courage, a long deep breath, and a willingness to…
